Blind actuator - How can I automate my shutters and blinds? Can the time of day, the weather and the position of the sun be taken into account? We provide recommendations and information on the purchase of KNX blind actuators and show you what options the technology offers you in everyday life.If you want to build a new house or renovate an existing building, many questions arise. The technical equipment in particular must be well thought out, because a later change is then only possible with a lot of effort. If you already include the advantages of intelligent building automation in your planning, then the opening, closing and shading of the windows will also play an important role.Useful application examples for controlling blinds or roller shutters:the up and down of roller shutters and blinds according to time specificationsturning the slats of blinds based on the brightness in the roomthe automatic opening of roller shutters or blinds when windows are openedthe simultaneous operation of several shading systemsthe flexible control or regulation of the roller shutters when you are absent via a smartphone appthe automatic drive to the safety position in the event of a storm alarm and back after the all-clearthe blocking of operation for certain peopleautomatic shading according to geographic location and position of the sun (astro control) The use of modern KNX blind actuators supports you in realizing all these projects. They ensure more security, greater comfort and increase the value of your property.  What distinguishes a KNX blind actuator from a KNX switching actuator? All motorized equipment such as blinds or roller shutters can be automated using KNX blind actuators. Standard 230V blind actuators therefore have 2 channels per switching output. A channel to drive up and a channel to drive down. The channels are mutually locked to prevent damage to the drive. So only one phase can be switched through to the drive at a time, never both at the same time. TIP:Never use KNX switching actuators to control blinds and shutters without a downstream isolating relay. With classic KNX switching actuators, the channels are not mutually locked. It would therefore be possible to connect more than one phase to the drive. This can quickly lead to damage to the technology. There are models which, depending on the configuration, can be used both as a switching actuator and as a shutter actuator. Please read the specification of the respective actuator. What should be considered during installation?Motorized 3-point drives must not be connected in parallel. Group formations may only be carried out using isolating relays or group control devices if the manufacturer does not provide for any isolating function. For example, for 4 windows, each with a drive, you should use a KNX blind actuator with 4 channels. There is also the option of operating several drives via one channel using conventional isolating relays. The shutter actuator channel then controls the isolating relay and the drives are connected to the isolating relay. In the meantime, however, the prices for the KNX actuators have fallen massively, so that there is hardly any need to reduce costs by using isolating relays. TIP:When selecting your components, always prefer one blind actuator channel per blind motor. For example, if you would like to integrate 6, 8 or 12 blinds into your system, you will find the appropriate actuator here in the shop. Are blind actuators with 230V AC better than models with 24V DC?This question is not about better or worse. Rather, the type of voltage of the drives should always be considered. The drives of blinds or roller shutters are often designed as 230V AC (alternating voltage) or 24V DC (direct current). That's why you have to buy the matching blind actuator or roller shutter actuator. A 24V DC blind actuator or roller shutter actuator has a plus and a minus connection. A suitable KNX actuator generates the direction of travel (up/down) by changing the poles (pole reversal).Do shutter actuators require a separate power supply? The 24V DC mains supply is not provided by the actuator and must also be installed externally depending on the power requirement for simultaneity (central commands). In this case, very large power supply units can become necessary, which, in addition to high costs, also require a large amount of space. If you can, order 230V AC drives and matching 230V KNX blind actuators from the supplier. These also require their own power supply, but no additional power supply units. That is the reasonSo-called monostable relays are installed in the shutter actuators, which are open and not active when idle. However, the relays continuously require energy as long as they are closed (e.g. for the duration of a blind movement). The bus voltage alone cannot cover this requirement. In contrast, there are bistable relays in classic switching actuators. These only require some energy in the brief moment of switching from one position to another. This can be implemented via the bus and an additional power supply is usually not necessary. What do I need an SMI KNX blind actuator for?SMI stands for 'Standard Motor Interface' and is an intelligent, uniform and manufacturer-independent interface in building automation. This is used to connect various operating resources, such as window drives, roller shutter drives or blind drives to a higher-level building management system. There are SMI KNX blind actuators for drives with an SMI interface. These intelligent drives are therefore able to exchange data telegrams across manufacturers.Which actuators are recommended for controlling roller shutters and blinds?eibabo® carries KNX blind actuators, KNX roller shutter actuators and KNX SMI actuators from ABB, Berker, Busch-Jaeger, Gira, Hager, Issendorf, Jung, Lingg & Janke, MDT, Merten, Siemens, Somfy, Theben, Warema and many other manufacturers.Over 25 years of experienceAll actuators that you get here in the shop are of high quality and reliable. We regularly use these actuators in our projects all over the world.Benefit from our low prices and take advantage of safe, fast and worldwide shipping.1-byte communication object - what is that?In any case, make sure that your blind actuator or roller shutter actuator has a 1-byte communication object for the runtime and slat, in order to be able to enable automatic or targeted control if required. There are no slats in roller shutters, which is why roller shutter actuators do not have the slat communication object, only Up/Down/Stop. Roller shutter actuators often have a 1-bit object for a defined positioning movement that can be set via the ETS software.1 byte means that values between 0-255 can be approached, which correspond to 0-100% related to the travel time. The parameters often allow the running time to be set according to the driving time. The travel time of the blind or roller shutter is entered once in the actuator using the ETS software, namely for a complete opening or closing for each channel of the actuator. There are also actuators for evaluating limit switches, which the motorized drive provides.Image: KNX blind actuator ? Eibmarkt JA.6.230The extensive application of the KNX blind actuator / roller shutter actuator JA.6.230 from Eibmarkt® shown here enables a wide range of parameterization via the communication object, including scenes for runtime and slats, blocking functions, automatic functions, security functions and alarm functions, movement limitations, position feedback and much more. Can a layperson use the ETS software to program the KNX devices?Don't be put off by the term 'programming'. The ETS software is only used to assign and parameterize certain actions. Programming skills or learning a programming language are not required. If you have some imagination to understand logical connections, then you are quite capable of creating a project.our recommendationFor more complex projects, a certain amount of experience is of course helpful. Have the basic project created by a qualified system integrator. In this way, you will later be able to easily change important parameters yourself if circumstances require it.Roughly explained: Imagine the folder system on your Windows PC or iOS computer. Here you create your own structure, save files in it and create links to other folders. This is similar with the ETS software. The 'folders' can be floors or rooms and the 'files' in them are the sensors or actuators of the respective room or electrical distribution cabinet, which you then link to one another. What types of installation are there for KNX blind actuators?KNX blind actuators are available for every type of installation at eibabo®. For example, for installation in the electrical distribution, then these carry the suffix 'REG' for series installation devices or as a flush-mounted version 'UP' for installation in a mounting box or junction box or as a built-in version 'EB' for integration in ducts or similar. However, additional protection must also be taken into account for built-in versions depending on the installation.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Installation bus systems > Shutting actuator for bus system you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Azimuth controlBinary inputBlind functionBuilding controlBuilding system technologyCable entryCombination actuatorControl moduleControl unitsDIN railDIN railsDrive controlEngine control unitEngine controllerHome controlInput moduleLight domeNormally open outputOutdoor areaOutput moduleRadio receiverSeries installationShutter controlShutter outputShutter switchSplash proofSun protectionVentilation flapfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Blind actuator:ABBBerkerBusch JaegerEatonEIBMARKTElsoEltakoESYLUXFinderGiraHagerJungLingg & JankeMDTMertenPehaSchneider ElectricSiemensSomfyThebenWaremaWieland
Room temperature controller - When building a new house or renovating, you have numerous interesting options for organizing the control of the room temperature. We will tell you how you can use various bus systems such as KNX, radio or LCN in addition to the conventional temperature setting. Automation not only increases living comfort, but also contributes to the value of your building. This enables you to make necessary adjustments or changes even when you are not at home. This eibabo® catalog provides room temperature controllers for all common applications. What are KNX room temperature controllers?KNX room temperature controllers are part of a building's heating system. These are used for individual room temperature control of interior rooms and have various measuring ranges. The respective devices can differ significantly in terms of application and the functions provided for operation and comfort. For example, the differences are whether static heating surfaces or underfloor heating are to be controlled or whether air conditioning and ventilation functions are to be provided.Do not confuseThermostats are also known as room temperature controllers. Installed on radiators, however, they measure the temperature at the heating and usually only differentiate between on and off.KNX room temperature controllers, on the other hand, continuously control between 0 and 100 percent and use a heating actuator to communicate with the heating actuators. How is the room temperature controlled using KNX?A KNX room temperature controller determines the control difference between the target temperature and the actual temperature. The calculated control difference is sent as a 1-byte command value telegram (a value between 0 and 100 percent) via the KNX bus to the corresponding channel of a heating actuator. This processes the signal and then controls the actuator. The following small example illustrates the rough functionality. The actual manufacturer specific control algorithm may be different:The room temperature controller determines a current temperature of 18 degrees Celsius (controlled variable). However, the desired room temperature should be 22 degrees Celsius. The 22 degrees Celsius then represents the setpoint for the controlled variable. The resulting difference between the actual value and the setpoint is the control deviation. The control difference is 4 degrees Celsius and is used to determine the control variable that is to be used to influence the room temperature. Assuming the manipulated variable is 25%. This value is transmitted as a 1-byte telegram (0-255 = 0-100%) from the room temperature controller to the heating actuator. In this case 63.75. For example, the actuator takes 2 minutes to fully open. The time required for the respective actuator to open or close can be found in the data sheet for the thermoelectric actuator. This information must have been previously stored in the parameters of the actuator using Engineering Tool Software (ETS). With a command value specification of 25%, the actuator would switch on the actuator for 30 seconds (this corresponds to 25% of 2 minutes) and switch it off for 90 seconds. The actuator then switches on again for 30 seconds and so on. If the room temperature controller calculates and transmits a different command value specification, the switching cycle for the actuator also changes.Image: Gira 210003 KNX continuous controllerWhat is the difference between KNX continuous controllers, KNX object controllers and KNX room temperature controllers? The selection of KNX temperature controllers is very large. eibabo® offers products from all leading manufacturers of control technology for HVAC (heating, air conditioning, ventilation) in smart home automation. These include ABB, Berker, Busch-Jaeger, Eaton, Elsner Elektronik, Eltako, EIBMARKT, Gira, Hager, Issendorf, Jung, Lingg & Janke, MDT, Merten, Siemens, Theben and Thermokon. Many of these manufacturers use different designations, such as KNX continuous controller, KNX object controller or KNX room temperature controller.KNX room temperature controllers continuously record temperature values and forward them to other system components as KNX signals that can be evaluated. This process takes place continuously. A KNX continuous controller is therefore the same as a KNX room temperature controller. The situation is different with a KNX object controller. Object controllers are room temperature controllers without direct adjustment options on the device for the setpoint temperature. Object controllers were developed for object use. In public objects, as a rule, direct adjustment by strangers should be prevented. The values are parameterised directly via the ETS (software). You can change these directly via KNX (KNX buttons, KNX operating panels, KNX visualisations) in the setpoints. KNX object controllers are often cheaper and suitable in private areas for corridors, basements or storage rooms. What do you have to consider when positioning a KNX room temperature controller? As a rule, the installation is carried out using a branch switch box with 4 screw bosses, one switch box deep. Alternatively, use an electronics box if a separate bus coupler is required. With our convenient search function, you can quickly find the right items here in the eibabo® technology store. TIP:There are multi-channel KNX room temperature controllers for installation in your electrical distribution. Here, the temperature is measured via separate KNX sensors, for example from KNX buttons or KNX motion detectors with an integrated temperature sensor. For optimal use of all functions and the best possible recording of the measurement data, please ensure that the installation height is 1.60 m from the top edge of the finished floor. In this way you ensure optimal control and user-friendly handling. How is a room temperature controller connected to the KNX bus?KNX room temperature controllers are equipped differently by the manufacturers. You can either buy the KNX room temperature controller including a bus coupler or you have to order the bus coupler separately. The required interface between the KNX bus and the KNX room temperature controller is called the bus coupler. You can tell whether your controller has a bus connection by the red and black bus terminal. The KNX controllers often offer included KNX binary inputs. These are used, for example, to integrate conventional buttons in the room to switch lights via KNX. These binary inputs usually correspond to the technical data of KNX push button interfaces and can therefore only be extended up to a maximum of 50cm.How important is the appearance of a KNX room temperature controller? There are controllers with or without a dial to adjust the temperature. Other models are operated via the display and menu controls. Everything is possible here. The controls should match your other switch range and reflect your modern, classic, simple or extravagant style of living. TIP:Don't just look at the exterior of a KNX room temperature controller, but also at its inner values. There are often considerable differences in the application developments (software) of the manufacturers. The possibilities that the respective software can offer you may be relevant to your project requirements. Think of:control behaviorInfluencing control processesOperating modes and external switching options or setpoint adjustment optionsstatus feedbacknumber of group addressesBehavior in the event of a bus voltage failureand much more What other properties should I consider before buying a KNX room temperature controller? In addition to the technical, optical and software properties mentioned, other factors can speak for or against a specific model.Do I need anti-theft or dismantling protection? What color or what material do I want for the control panel?Do the local conditions require wireless data transmission?Should it be regulated via a room controller?and some more What are room controllers with integrated KNX room temperature controller? An alternative to the KNX room temperature controllers presented here are the KNX room controllers, provided they have an integrated temperature controller. These are devices that you can use to centrally control lighting, temperature and blinds, for example. Such controllers can be used via individually assignable control panels for switching, dimming, regulating or controlling all required actuators and sensors. You can also get numerous high-quality KNX room controllers here in the shop at top conditions. Use our intelligent search for your research.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Installation bus systems > Room temperature controller for bus system you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Building system technologyBus technologyButton interfaceClock thermostatContinuous controllerControllersEnd stripsEnergy efficientHeating controlHeating technologyHome controlHumidityMoellerfunkMoisture meterMultifunction displayNetworkingObject controllerRadio systemRadio transmitterRemote room sensorRoom controllerRoom sensorRoom temperature controllerRoom thermostatTemperatureTemperature controllerThermostatWireless temperature sensorfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Room temperature controller:ABBAlre-itBerkerBusch JaegerEatonEberleElsnerElsoEltakoGiraHagerJungMDTMertenSiemensTheben
Feed-through duct - Are you unable to install electrical cables and wires inside walls or floors? Does your installation need to be checked regularly? Then you need an alternative to laying your electrical routes. Mounting brackets, clamps, cable ties and similar devices are often used as fasteners. However, their common disadvantage is that the installation remains open and visible. However, this is unacceptable in most cases. In order to hide the wiring, ducts are used for cable routing. We would like to introduce you to their types and sizes in this article.Cable routing ducts are used wherever extensive installations are necessary and concealed installation is not possible. A typical example is the multi-storey office building. In addition to power supplies, all kinds of data transmission cables have to find their way to the individual offices and different floors. And of course you don't lay these lines and cables loosely, but protect them from damage and unauthorized access with a cable routing duct.Cable routing ducts made of plasticPlastic cable ducts are most commonly used to route cables within a building. In most cases, these are white or gray profiles with a rectangular cross-section. Depending on the model, the channels can be divided into several strands. Likewise, there are cable ducts in various other shapes and even colors, which are intended for laying in specific locations or for different purposes. For example, there are models with a triangular cross-section for the connection between worktops and the wall. Half-round variants are used on the ground so that people do not trip over the cable.materials and structurePlastic cable routing ducts are made of non-combustible PVC or polyethylene. Typically, the length of a segment is 2 meters. Other dimensions are also available for special cases, so you can also find longer cable ducts if required. The width and height can be chosen individually. The standard dimensions are between 10 mm and 60 mm. Deviations are also possible here depending on the application. The most popular and widespread are the simple, classic U-shaped cable ducts. U-shaped cable ducts are available with both solid and slotted sidewalls. On the other hand, the coverage is usually always massive. This is clamped onto the side walls without tools.attachmentDepending on the material and the load-bearing capacity of the surface, cable routing ducts are fastened, glued, nailed or screwed using retaining clips. The manufacturers provide appropriate mounting holes for this on the underside of the duct ex works. TIPIf you decide to stick it on, please also take into account the subsequent weight of the cables and lines. In many cases, double-sided adhesive tape is not sufficient for permanently secure attachment. accesoriesIn order not to have to make curves, angles or branches on the main line yourself, many manufacturers offer additional elements to adapt to your own needs. You get connection boxes, T-pieces and corner profiles for every type of cable duct. These allow you to create cabling of any complexity without affecting walls and floors and without wasting time. There are also consoles for sockets and switches, which can be connected directly to the cable duct.channels for the floorSpecial ducts should be used to route cables and lines to the center of the room. These are very flat and curved in cross-section. This minimizes the risk of tripping and also protects the cable from damage caused by mechanical stress.Colored floor ducts are also available. On the one hand, you can create a subtle appearance to match the floor covering or, on the other hand, use contrasting colors to draw attention to this 'dangerous area'.What are the advantages and disadvantages of cable routing ducts made of plastic?Cable routing ducts enable a highly flexible and yet safe installation of cables and lines in almost all spatial conditions. There is no need to open the walls and floors to lay cables and lines. The installation is accessible at any time for repairs, checks and extensions. The cables and lines are protected against mechanical damage. The elements are inexpensive and can be assembled quickly. On the other hand, you have to accept that the usability of the wall is somewhat affected by cable routing ducts and the design of the interior design suffers as a result. It also cannot be ruled out that carelessness can result in damage or that the installation can be ripped out of the wall.Image: OBO LKM40040FS cable routing ductWiring ducts of metalMetal cable trunking is designed for heavy loads. These models are usually not necessary for classic household use. Metal ducts are mainly suitable for the industrial sector, because complex line systems and extensive cable bundles often have to be laid here.materials and constructionGalvanized steel is predominantly used as the material. This protects against corrosion and serves to maintain the function of the system in the event of external faults. Cable routing ducts made of metal are predominantly U-shaped and are available both with and without a cover. Perforated and non-perforated material is used depending on the operating conditions. The dimensions can be up to 300 mm in width and 100 mm in height. Standard lengths are 2000 mm and 3000 mm. From a certain dimension, the transitions to massive cable support systems are fluid. TIPYou can order the right end pieces, duct connectors, partitions, brackets, clamps or device sockets from us at the same time. attachmentDue to the high weight, the metal channels cannot be glued. Fixing with anchors and dowels is common. For channels with larger dimensions, shelves or consoles are offered for attachment.accesoriesMetal cable routing ducts are often used to route electrical cables in raised floors or false ceilings. Depending on the requirements, additional components are required for their assembly in order to create turns, climbs, slopes or branches. What are the advantages and disadvantages of cable routing ducts made of metal?Metal ducts, when properly secured, can withstand the weight of a large number of power cables. They allow you to easily trace the path of each cable. As with the plastic variants, installation is easy and access for maintenance, replacement and additions is available at all times. An additional plus is the fire protection on the inside and outside. The disadvantage is the high weight and the higher costs. Individual adjustments to the modules are comparatively complex on the construction site. A lot of accessories and high-quality tools are therefore required. The portfolio available in the eibabo® online shop starts with narrow and flat items for just one line and extends to wall ducts and ceiling ducts, which can accommodate dozens of lines and cables. We recommend the high-quality items from the well-known manufacturers Kleinhuis, Niedax, Niedergesäß, OBO, Pflitsch, PROTEC.class, Rehau, Tehalit and Vogels.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Installation ducts for wall and ceiling > Installation duct you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Cabel CanalCable routingCable routing ductCeiling ductConduitDesign channelDevice installation trunkingDoor bypass channelElectrical installation ductGlue channelIndustrial channelInstallation channelLine protection channelMetal channelMini cable channelPlasticPlastic channelRoller channelSheet steelSheet steel channelSkirting boardSkirting channelSurface channelWiringWiring ductfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Feed-through duct:KleinhuisNiedaxNiedergesäßOBOPflitschTehalitVogels
Modular plug connectors - What are modular connectors? Where can I use these in my home, commercial or industrial installation? What are the benefits of modular connectors? Does the eibabo® shop offer inexpensive and individual connectors? We answer these questions in the following post. In the field of electrical installation, connectors are of particular importance. Using plug-in connections, it is possible to connect two identical or different cables or lines with one another in a form-fitting manner. Such connections can also be released again.Modular connectors are constructed in such a way that they have properties in common with other components. These are, for example, the same installation dimensions or the type of connections and attachments. These work individually, but can also be combined with others within an assembly unit to form a larger whole or exchanged for one another. If you are interested in a flexible and modular structure for your electrical installation, browse through this eibabo® catalogue. Select the modular connectors that are right for you.Why are there modular connectors? The modern, modular connectors go back to the development of the American telephone system. The phone companies dominated the phone network for the first few decades and didn't allow third-party devices. This applied to both commercial and private use. To connect buildings and individual telephones to the network, bulky plugs were used, which had been in use since the 1930s. These had to be installed and maintained by specialist companies at great expense. As the telephone system became more widespread, a way was sought to reduce the high service costs. These efforts resulted in a modular system of components for standard connections. These were smaller, cheaper and easier to install. As a result, a standard was established for the connection between the telephone company's equipment and the customer's equipment. These standard interfaces were known as Registered Jacks (RJ). The RJ interface specification includes:the physical construction of the plugthe wiring patternsthe signal specifications Registered jacks are identified by the letters RJ. Additional digits describe the type and its properties. Modular connectors and RJ connectors are common names for the same devices. The use of modular connectors has helped fuel the global development of voice and data communications.Picture: Ruthenbeck UM-Cat.6A iso A universal moduleHow are modular connectors constructed?Modular plugs consist of a plastic or metal housing. The housing encloses stamped metal contacts separated by insulating channels. The contacts in the plug match the contacts in the socket. Part of the housing can often be used to lock the plug-socket connection and serves as strain relief. A modular plug or socket is assembled into a cable using a crimping tool. Depending on the use, individual connectors can have an even number of two to ten contact points. For this reason, the widths of the two connecting bodies vary. Not all contacts have to be assigned a line. Telephone (RJ11) connectors typically use four to six ports. RJ45 Ethernet connections have eight ports. The specification details describe the wiring. For example, a 6P2C connector has six positions and two contacts. A four-position, four-contact connector is designated 4P4C. TIP:The specification given for the wiring does not define the purpose of the wires. Modular connectors are also referred to as male or female. The male connectors are plugs or headers, the female ones are sockets or sockets. Some modular connectors supply low voltage AC or DC power to small electronic devices. What are the advantages of modular connectors? The biggest advantage of modular connectors lies in their standard use in communication and data transmission. The connectors are also used in production, in field installation and in the maintenance and repair of machines and systems. The advantages in production are:low prices and constant availabilityAssembly of plugs and cables without solderingrobust versions available for industrial applicationsPossibility to use the sockets on boards by reflow soldering The same advantages apply to installation and repair. In addition, value is placed on the following properties:Simple cable assembly and replacement of old connections on sitequick assembly with simple toolsnumerous wiring options This avoids production downtime and increases the reliability of a system.Where are modular connectors used? The use of modular connectors allows you to individually configure contact connections. Reliability and ease of use have made modular connectors an easy solution for many applications. The most common applications are data networks, telecommunications and low-speed serial connections. Due to the efficient and compact designs, these are also used as alternatives for bulkier and more expensive connectors in various products. Modular connectors are used worldwide and are among the essential components in data transmission and communication. Modular plug connections are also used in the industrial sector. Standardized assembly units are available for machines and systems, into which a wide variety of plug connections can be integrated. This allows individually multifunctional plugs and sockets to be put together. Use compact plug connections in terminal boxes and control cabinets. What types of modular connectors are there? There are many different types of modular connectors. The world's best known and most widely used modular connectors are:RJ10 - (4 positions and 4 contacts) - connects a telephone handset to a receiverRJ11 - (6 positions and either 2 or 4 contacts) - is used to connect telephone lines and modems, with 4 contacts with power supply via the second pairRJ12 - (6 position and 6 contacts) - for telephone line and additional control lines, used in larger telephone systemsRJ13 - (6 position and 4 contacts, with a circuit behind the line) - for telephone line and additional control linesRJ14 - (6 positions and either 4 or 6 contacts) - is used to connect two telephone lines, with 6 contacts with power on the third pairRJ45 - (8 positions and either 8 or 10 contacts) - Connector for high-speed data transmission in computer networks What special properties do modular connectors have?Special requirements must be met when modular connectors are used in factories, in automated processes or in image processing systems. Many of the modular connectors therefore have additional features. This makes them usable for specific applications. For example:shieldingIf electromagnetic interference is to be expected or the lines are very long, shielded lines and plug connections are often used. These cancel out electromagnetic interference. keyingDue to an attached tab, insertion of a true RJ45 plug into a jack is only possible in one orientation. This is to avoid improper wiring. Standard 8P8C connectors do not have this security feature. AssemblyFor production use, panel mount, board mount, through-hole mount, and surface mount are often possible. The sockets can have a vertical or horizontal orientation. display functionsModern modular connectors may also contain LEDs of different colors to indicate connection status. magneticsMagnets must be taken into account with any Ethernet connection. These are part of the Ethernet specification for 10BASE-T and 100BASE-T networks. The integration of the magnetics in the RJ45 socket shields against electromagnetic interference. Data connections are becoming more reliable. Highest qualityModular connectors are used in systems where high reliability and performance are important. These are, for example, the military and aviation and space travel. In order to meet the highest requirements, high-performance shielding, special coding, protective sleeves and particularly robust parts are used in these so-called Hi-Rel (High Reliability) models.Which manufacturers produce high-quality modular connectors?Implement tailor-made solutions for your requirements or for the wishes of your customers with our modular connectors. Different and variable housing variants and modular contact inserts enable flexible connection options. Many of the modular connectors offered by eibabo® are suitable for use under extreme environmental conditions, in industry and commerce. Distributor-timer - digital - Don't you also think that many electrical consumers don't have to be in operation all day? Would you like to save costs and conserve resources? This is possible with timers for the control cabinet. Find out here which functions digital distribution time switches can take on and which special features you should pay attention to when buying. At eibabo® you will find the right digital distributor time switch for installation in the electrical distribution board. We carry a large selection of Astro timers, weekly timers and yearly timers. Manufacturers of high-quality devices include Hager, Finder, ABL Sursum, Theben, ABB, Stotz S&J, Legrand (BT), Grässlin, Eltako and Schneider Electric. In the following text we will go into the individual variants in more detail. What are distribution timers?A time switch for the junction box is an electronic or mechanical device that switches electrical consumers on a time-controlled basis. These can be switched on and off without having to flip the switch yourself. This can be useful in private households as well as in commercial companies and in the industrial sector. The purposes of the distributor time switches include, among other things, the automatic switching on and off of lighting systems or the control of fixed house installations such as heating, ventilation, lawn sprinklers and air conditioning units. This not only saves you time, but also money.NoticeDistribution time switches are often offered in grid dimensions (pitch units). Depending on the equipment, such a device requires one to four modular widths in the control cabinet. The advantages of a timer are therefore obvious: electricity costs can be reduced effectively through the targeted control of your electrical devices. At the same time, you have the option of making your home less attractive to burglars, for example by simulating your presence using optionally available random functions. You can also get digital or analogue timers for the socket in another catalog from the eibabo® shop. Their function is comparable to that of the distributor time switches. However, the area of application extends to 'mobile' devices that are not permanently installed. These include Christmas lights, aquarium technology or decorative items such as fountains. What functions do distribution timers offer?A high-quality distributor time switch offers numerous functions and programs for the individual setting of the switching cycles. These include:60 min program / 24 h programWeekly program / annual programAutomatic summer/winter time changeoverholiday programimpulse programcycle programastro programrandom programPermanent switching ON/OFFexpiration timerhour meter Image: Theben TR 644 top2 RC distribution time switchWhat is the difference between each type of timer? We often come across terms such as astro timers, weekly timers or yearly timers. With regard to a purchase decision, the question then arises as to whether there are significant differences between these models. The basic function is the same for all models. The differences lie in the detail and the setting options of the individual variants. The astro function of a timer adjusts the switching times daily to the seasonally changing length of the day. In other words: When the days get longer in spring, the device switches on a little later every evening and a little earlier every morning. This process is calculated electronically and does not require a brightness sensor, for example, which would otherwise have to give the command to switch the light on or off. With a weekly timer, you can set individual switching times for each day of the week. In contrast, the function of a very simple time switch is limited to setting switching cycles within 24 hours.Already knew?Modern timers have a powerful power reserve. In the event of a power failure, this ensures the function of the timer for up to 10 more years. The annual time switch offers even more extensive functions. This means that different switching times can be provided for each calendar day and vacations and public holidays can be taken into account.Do distribution timers require a separate power supply?Digital timers always require energy to operate. As a rule, a distribution time switch is clamped onto the DIN rail of the control cabinet and supplied with mains voltage via an integrated power pack. Time switches that are exclusively battery operated are rare. These are typically analogue variants, which are used, for example, as 'door openers' in stables when there is no electricity. Is a digital timer always better than an analogue model? An analog timer works mechanically, a digital timer works electronically. Whether one or the other variant is more suitable for you depends on your requirements for the device. Mechanical timers usually have a higher-level switch with which you can switch the device off completely, switch it on permanently or switch it to switching mode. Switch buttons arranged in a circle represent the daily routine. There are usually 48 buttons and each button stands for half an hour. Activate or deactivate the corresponding switching period by pressing or pulling out. Compared to analog timers, digital timers offer significantly more setting options and functions. In contrast to mechanical timers, you can usually set several switching programs down to the minute over days or weeks. The distribution timer is operated using buttons and a display. TIP:If you want to control more than one device with the distribution timer, choose a model with the appropriate number of channels. This saves a lot of space in the control cabinet. Times and switching programs are clearly shown on the display. In terms of accuracy and functionality, a digital time switch is clearly superior to the analogue version. However, it requires a certain learning phase to understand the technology and set switching programs. If you only need 'rough' and daily recurring switching processes, analogue time switches are still a good alternative. These are set up and ready to use in just a few seconds. Can distributor time switches be programmed using an app or externally? There are distributor time switches that have Bluetooth and can be configured using an app. This allows you to display and change the switching states via smartphone or tablet computer. The prerequisite is the coupling between the input devices and timers within a network. Another way of programming the switching times is to use manufacturer-specific software. You can transfer the switching information to a special memory card via the USB interface of your computer. The memory card can then be connected to the time switch on the construction site/in the switch cabinet and the switching data can be loaded into the switch and vice versa.Doesn't a distribution timer consume more electricity than it saves? If the focus is on switching a consumer (e.g. the lighting) on and off, a distribution time switch is of course useful. As a rule, active end devices consume significantly more power than a timer. The question asked above relates to switching off a device that would otherwise run in standby mode for hours. To answer this question, a distinction must be made between an analogue and a digital time switch. An analogue model is less complex and usually has an output of less than 1 watt. With an electricity price of 40 cents per kilowatt hour, for example, the consumption costs are around 1 cent per day with 24 hours. With a digital timer, you have to assume around 2 watts and thus calculate electricity costs of 2 cents per day. In this calculation example, the investment costs for one or more time switches should also be taken into account. You can now compare this with the standby power consumption of your devices. This essentially depends on the type, age and number of devices. Old devices with displays consume more power in standby than modern electronics with only one control LED. A mix of new and old devices in the household currently results in an average consumption of 1 to 2 watts per device. If you need a separate timer for each electrical device, using them to save standby power is therefore not economical. The situation is somewhat different with distribution time switches, which can switch several devices or machines with a high standby current at the same time. This may save you on standby electricity costs, although this is not the primary reason for using a timer in these cases either. TIP:Pay attention to the shortest switching time of the device if you want to switch short intervals. Some devices only switch every minute and only a few devices switch every second or even faster. An example: If you have a terrarium with a sprinkler system, the nozzles should usually only spray for a few seconds. This is to maintain high humidity. Prolonged spraying may flood facility and animals.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Devices for distribution board- / surface mounting > Digital time switch for distribution board you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Astro timerBuilt-in timerDaily timerDigital timerDistribution timerEnergy efficientExpansion moduleInstallation timerJunction boxLighting controlLocation dependentPosition dataPower reserveProgram clockQuartz timerSeries installationTimerTimer moduleTimersUniversal timerWeekly programWeekly timerYear time switchfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Distributor-timer - digital:ABBDoepkeEatonEltakoFinderHagerHamaLegrand BticinoSchneider ElectricSiemensTheben
Core cable - It is not always necessary or desirable to lay cables and lines with multiple cores. For these applications, the eibabo® technology store offers you individual cores with different diameters and insulation. Read here what you should pay attention to when using and buying.Classic cables and lines usually consist of several individual and separately insulated wires. The conductive material of these wires consists mainly of copper, in certain cases also of other metals. The nature of the conductor itself can also vary. A solid wire is possible, but also a bundle with a multi-core core structure, so-called stranded wire. If you want your installation to be more mobile, reach for the stranded wire. Use solid wire for permanent installations. You can get individual wires, but also ready-made cables and wires from us in our online shop at reasonable prices. What are cables, wires and cores?Electrical cables, wires and individual wires all serve the purpose of transmitting electrical energy or data signals over a certain distance.More cables in the shopSpecial cables and cables for data transmission and signal transmission can have a different structure than classic power cables. With our search you will find cables and wires for almost all electrical engineering requirements.core linesThe core cables offered in this catalog are individual solid metal cores or strands, which are surrounded by insulation. Core lines for the transmission of electrical energy usually consist of two parts, a metal core and a surrounding insulating layer. The metal core made of copper or aluminum serves as a conductor for the direct transmission of the electric current. The core of the wire can be monolithic (solid wire) or twisted from several fine wires. Copper conductors are mainly used for wires with small and medium cross-sections. The insulation of the wires serves to protect them from contact.cables and wiresIn contrast, cables and wires consist of several cores, which are combined under a common insulating layer. The term cable is used in German when it is a fixed installation outside of buildings. Cables are used inside buildings. The type of cable or line is selected according to the type of installation, the planned load and the environment. What is the significance of the colors of the core cables?First of all: We always recommend that you have work on electrical equipment carried out by an experienced installer. When you see an electrical installation or look at a loose end of a cable, you are confronted with wire cables of different colors. In Germany these are typically black, brown, blue, gray and green-yellow. If you understand the color coding for electrical cables, you will be able to use the individual cores correctly. This is particularly important because other people later rely on the correct assignment of the colors when checking or making changes and derive the function of individual wires from this. NoticeThe color codes are slightly different internationally. When choosing the color, please refer to the applicable standards in your country. Non-metallic electrical cables consist of the outer plastic sheath and the inner, color-coded cores. Markings are usually applied to the sheathing, which provide information about the number of wire lines and their diameter. The color of the wire determines its purpose. The following rules apply in Germany and the EU: The basic colors are brown, blue and green-yellow. There are also the extended basic colors black and grey. Alternative colors are white, orange, red and purple. The brown wire is phase 1 (L1) and is always used for the so-called 'hot wire'. The term 'hot' is used as a synonym for wire lines that transport the electrical current from the power source to the device (lamp, socket or similar). The blue wire is the neutral wire (N) and must not be switched independently. Please don't let the term 'neutral' fool you. It is easy to believe that this is a non-electrified line. Even neutral lines can potentially carry electricity. While the brown wire carries power from the power source to the device, the neutral wire carries power back to the source. Therefore, both 'hot' and neutral lines have the potential to cause electrical surge injuries. All electrical devices must be grounded. In the event of a fault, grounding provides a safe path for current to flow back to ground or earth. The green-yellow wire is intended for this. This is called the protective earth conductor (PE) and is connected to electrical devices such as switches, sockets and fittings as well as metal frames or metal housings.Already knew? The green-yellow color combination for the protective conductor was chosen so that people with color blindness can distinguish this line from the other lines. The extended basic colors black and gray are used when it is a three-phase AC installation. Colloquially, one also speaks of power current, three-phase current or site current. The term 'strong current' is also often used. However, this is not correct. The term 'high current' is only used in connection with systems with a nominal voltage of 1 kV or more. The black wire represents phase 2 (L2), the gray wire represents phase 3 (L3).You can choose the alternative colors white, orange, red and violet as a supplement for certain installations, for example as a corresponding cable for alternating circuits or cross circuits.Which cross-section do I have to pay attention to with core cables? The required cross-section of an electrical cable depends on numerous conditions. These include the type of current (direct current, alternating current), the level of the operating voltage, the amperage, the length of the line, the type of installation, the voltage drop and the phase angle. These parameters result in a calculation formula that can be used to determine a cable cross-section. Due to the many variables, we cannot make any general recommendations for the use of certain cross-sections at this point for safety reasons.Picture: Various manufacturers H07V-U 1.5 core cable solidWhat are the differences between solid conductors and stranded conductors?Electrical wires are the basis of every electrical circuit. In addition to the color of the insulation and the cross-section of the conductor material, we also distinguish between solid conductors and multi-core core structures. Choose cables, wires and cores with solid conductors for permanent installations, for example in walls, floors, ceilings or in the ground. In these environments, the solid conductors have a number of advantages over flexible strands. These are:Cheaper to Manufacture ? Given the amount of wiring and wiring in a building, this has a huge impact on investment costs.Rigid and mechanically more stable - This makes it easier to lay through channels and openings.Easy and convenient to connect - The connection in terminals can also be made quickly and safely without ferrules. Stranded conductors are used in flexible installations and offer the following advantages over solid conductors:Plenty of surface area for the current to flow ? With the same load, the diameter of a stranded conductor can be smaller.Greater Surface Area for Less Resistance - Power dissipation is less than a solid conductor of the same size.Lots of flexibility and smaller bending radii ? stranded conductors have a longer service life than solid conductors when it comes to movement, twisting and stretching.   Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Cables > Power cable < 1 kV, for permanent installation you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Bell lineBell sheathed wireBell wireCore lineEnergy connectionInstallation wireJumper wireMounting wireMulti-standard linePlastic hose linePower cablePower connectionPower lineSilicone lineStranded wireWiring linefrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Core cable:DiverseEupenHelukabelHuber+SuhnerIRCEJungLappkabelLeoni KerpenLeoni StuderWeidmüller
Heating actuator - A comfortably warm bath after getting up or a cool bedroom at night - automatically. Who does not want that? Modern building automation makes it possible. The interaction of room temperature controllers, heating actuators and valve drives offers almost unlimited possibilities. The setup can be set up in all rooms according to the needs of everyday life. What are heating actuators? If you want to regulate the temperature in the room, in the apartment or in the entire building automatically, heating actuators play a central role. In principle, these are switching actuators. However, these are not equipped with mechanical relays. Thermoelectric valves (low ohmic loads) work here, which use electronic circuits (Triac) to ensure closed hot water circuits or chilled water (chilled ceiling). As a result, these devices are noiseless and wear-free.How is room temperature controlled via a heating actuator? The control difference determined by a KNX room temperature controller, i.e. the difference between the setpoint temperature and the actual temperature, is converted into a command value telegram. It is sent to the corresponding channel of the heating actuator via the KNX bus. Connect the thermoelectric (conventional) actuator to the duct using a suitable cable (e.g. NYM-J 3x1.5). The heating actuator can switch directly (1 bit) or independently process a received 1-byte command value signal internally. With the latter, the KNX bus is relieved because there is no flood of control telegrams from the room temperature controller to the actuator. Only the calculated control difference is sent to the actuator as a 1-byte command value telegram (0-100%). This converts the information into switching signals (on/off) directly to the assigned heating channel. This is called pulse width modulation (PWM). TIP:Make sure there are enough control channels on the heating actuator, ideally at least one per room. This creates maximum flexibility when controlling. The following small example illustrates the rough functionality, not the actual, manufacturer-specific control algorithm:The current temperature (controlled variable) is 20 degrees Celsius. The desired room temperature is 25 degrees Celsius and represents the set value for the controlled variable (command variable). The difference between the desired room temperature (set value) and the current temperature (actual value) is the control difference. The control difference is 5 degrees Celsius and is used to determine the manipulated variable that influences the room temperature. Assuming the manipulated variable is 20%. This value is sent to the heating actuator in the form of a 1-byte telegram (0-255 = 0-100%). The value 51 is therefore transmitted to the actuator. The time for opening/closing the actuator is stored in the parameters of the actuator using ETS. You can find this time in the properties of the respective 230V AC or 24V DC thermoelectric actuator. For example, the actuator takes 2 minutes to fully open. With a command value specification of 20%, the actuator would switch on the valve drive for 24 seconds (20% of 2 min.) and switch it off for 96 seconds. This process is repeated until the room temperature controller calculates and sends another command value specification. Depending on the manufacturer of the actuator, you can integrate several actuators per channel. How do I find the right heating actuator? The selection of a suitable heating actuator is linked to certain requirements. Answering the following questions will help you make a decision:How many heating circuits does my system have? How many actuators do I have per heating circuit?Do I want to install the heating actuator centrally or directly in the heating circuit distributor?Do I want to protect the power supply of the device via a connection for auxiliary voltage? With what voltage do the actuators work?Which functions should the heating actuator have?Do I prefer a certain brand?and many more The range of functions of a heating actuator in particular can differ depending on the model. Things to keep in mind include the following:Is it controlled with 1bit (switching/PWM) and/or 8bit (continuous) control values? Is direct control with a temperature value possible via the KNX bus?Does the device have an integrated temperature controller? Are the setpoints saved in the event of a bus voltage failure? Is there an emergency operation if the cyclic command values fail? Are different operating modes available (comfort, night, frost protection, summer mode or winter mode)? Is there a short-circuit detection and a voltage failure detection?Does the device have a pump shut-off? High comfortDepending on the model, it is possible to set a minimum comfort temperature for the underfloor heating. An additional sensor measures the temperature of the floor and keeps it at your comfort level. This is very pleasant in barefoot zones such as a bath.Depending on what value you place on the individual properties, the range of products can be limited to just a few models. Can I connect a heating actuator directly to the actuators in my heating circuits? In the case of a decentralized installation, for example in the heating circuit distributor, models with L and N connections can be used for direct connection of the actuators. Are KNX actuators really bad?Thermoelectric actuators are not wear-free and should be replaced every year. That is why expensive KNX actuators, which combine the KNX actuator and actuator, have not caught on and are disappearing from the market.Image: Jung Triac 2336-REG-HZR-HE 6-fold KNX heating actuatorHow are thermoelectric actuators installed?Thermoelectric actuators (valve drives) are snapped or screwed directly onto the upper part of the valve used in the house. This connection with the valve spindle is usually made directly in the heating circuit distributor. You can use adapters made of PVC or metal to compensate for the manufacturer-specific distance differences between the drive and the upper part of the valve or the thread and the mount. In this way you ensure correct implementation of the manipulated variable. How do I prevent rapid wear and tear on my valve drives? The ETS parameter 'Flush' minimizes wear and tear on valves that are rarely used, for example in summer or in bedrooms. This function prevents rapid calcification of the heating valves. Good to knowWith actuators, a distinction is made between NC (normally closed) and NO (normally open). NC drives open when power is applied. In NO actuators, the current closes the valve. Please bear this in mind when planning your heating system, as it is ultimately your personal decision. In the event of a power failure or defect, NC drives close and you quickly notice a malfunction. These drives only consume electricity when heating. On the other hand, drives that open without current are more efficient during the heating period. In this case, switching off the pump by the heating actuator after the winter season would be advisable. Otherwise you would continuously use electricity to keep the heating closed by means of the NO actuators in the warm season.Who are the leading manufacturers of KNX heating actuators? The leading manufacturers of KNX heating actuators at eibabo® are, for example, ABB, Berker, Busch-Jaeger, EIBMARKT, Elsner, Gira, Hager, Jung, Lingg & Janke, MDT, Merten, Siemens and Theben. We have more than 25 years of experience in the field of building automation and have arranged the order of the products in this catalog accordingly. Switch actuator - Do switch actuators only differ in the number of channels? If you would like to know what you should consider before buying a switch actuator, we have put together some helpful information for you in the following article. The possibilities are therefore very extensive and actuators from the eibabo® range take on very central control and switching functions. But what exactly does that mean? We clarify.Briefly summarizedSwitch actuators are components of modern building automation. You can plan these in the new building, retrofit them in the old building and use them flexibly if you are renting. It is possible to digitally network and switch almost all devices and components of building technology.Switch actuators are parameterized with the standardized ETS software.Private areas of application are, for example, switching operations on lamps, sockets, household appliances, entertainment devices and kitchen appliances. In the commercial sector, for example, you switch access systems, escalators, revolving doors and so on.   How does a KNX switch actuator work?Every bus system consists of actuators and sensors. KNX actuators are active switching elements or drive elements and are comparable to a conventional relay in which the coil is intelligently controlled by bus signals. This converts analogue or digital input signals into switching commands or drive commands. The KNX switching actuator also has its own intelligence in the form of a controller, the so-called 'KNX bus coupler'. You can recognize this controller by the red/black clamp. What types of installation are available for KNX switching actuators?KNX actuators are often also referred to as actuators or binary outputs. A distinction is made between classic switching actuators, dimming actuators, blind actuators, roller shutter actuators, heating actuators, analogue actuators and many others. There are actuators for installation in the electrical distribution, then you have the suffix 'REG' for modular installation device. Flush mount versions are labeled 'UP' for mounting in a mounting box or junction box. As a built-in version for integration in ducts or similar, 'EB' is specified as the mounting type. However, additional protection must also be taken into account for built-in versions depending on the installation. The advantages of switching actuatorsEverything under control ? anytime and anywhere. Single-family houses or apartment buildings, an office building or other real estate can have complex structures. With switching actuators, you simplify the organization of recurring processes and at the same time ensure that nothing is forgotten, no errors occur and, ideally, time and energy are saved. For example, you can adapt your building's access system to office hours or make the heating output dependent on the prevailing outside temperature. Or use the option of being able to operate doors, gates or windows at the same time. This ensures safety, especially in commercial properties, and saves the facility manager a great deal of time. All switching actuators work efficiently and silently. You are free to choose the type of control. This can be done via buttons, remote controls, voice controls, via the Internet or using a smartphone app.Classic application examples in everyday lifeAllow tradesmen access to the building even when you are not on site. Automatically open all escape routes in case of danger or control your children's TV times. In conjunction with motion sensors or presence detectors, doors can be opened and closed or security lighting activated. As you can see, with a little creativity, the possible uses of a KNX switching actuator are almost endless.Image: KNX switch actuator ? Eibmarkt SA.12.16In order to be able to use this potential optimally, it is necessary to know the extensive technical requirements. Which switching actuator do I need for my project and how do I avoid purchasing an unsuitable switching actuator? At eibabo® you will find actuators from brands such as ABB, Berker, Busch-Jaeger, Eaton, EIBMARKT, Eltako, Gira, Hager, Jung, Lingg & Janke, MDT, Merten, Siemens and Theben. Depending on their specifications, they are used for various automation systems. More detailed information can be obtained directly from the product. All KNX actuators offered by eibabo® are of the highest quality and can be purchased by both private and corporate customers. Delivery is worldwide. What questions should I ask myself before starting the project?Do I install one device or several? Will more devices be added later? What electrical loads and types of loads can be expected, especially when switching on?How should the control be operated - via app, voice and / or button? Are the devices switched individually or in groups?Which logic should the switching actions follow?and much more... ...accordingly, I have to consider the following thingsthe suitability of the planned or already installed cables and linescircuit protectionthe space required in the electrical distribution systemthe type, number and distribution of control elements ? for example buttonsand much more... Which KNX switching actuator do I need for my project?KNX actuators can be single-channel or multi-channel. For this reason, actuators can switch at least one or more different equipment such as lights, sockets or motors. There are also decisive differences between the manufacturers with regard to the software / application and the technical application. These include, for example, the integrated logics (e.g. staircase lighting function, delay functions, logic functions), the load capacity of the switching channels (6A, 10A, 16A) and the load type (resistive load, inductive load or capacitive load). Each switching actuator is optimized for its respective area of application. The tasks of a heating actuator, for example, are linked to different parameters than those of a universal switching actuator. Everyone has their specific application / software. This eibabo® catalog is about the classic switch actuator. For additional information on heating actuators, shutter actuators or dimming actuators, please use the search function in our shop. NOTE:The application (software) of each actuator determines its special properties. There are also differences in terms of functionality and expandability. Some models are designed as switch actuator main modules. These can later be supplemented with switching actuator extensions via jumper plugs and thus flexibly adapted to loads to be switched in the future.recommendationDownload the descriptions and the application for the desired actuators from the manufacturer's website and compare the specifications.Good planning is therefore a prerequisite. Only when you know what you want to switch with the required actuator can you choose a device that best meets your needs. Is the resilience of an actuator important? When selecting the right actuators, you should pay attention to the required loads on the one hand and the desired functional options that an actuator can offer on a manufacturer-specific basis on the other. Under no circumstances should you, for example, use an actuator with a maximum load capacity of 6A resistive load and 3A for capacitive loads for switching fluorescent lamps with electronic ballasts, since these devices have very high inrush currents (up to 100 A for 3-5ms) for a short time. This can lead to the contacts sticking together. For such loads, it is advisable to use C-load actuators.Does it make sense to use a very heavy duty actuator for very light loads? Please try to select the performance of your actuator as precisely as possible based on your needs. Very low loads on very heavy-duty C-load contacts can lead to wear because the self-cleaning effect no longer occurs. Actuators with a high load capacity of the channels also often require more robust relays with audible switching actions. This should be taken into account in particular when electrical distribution boards are installed in the vicinity of living spaces. TIP:Always choose a switching actuator with regard to its performance to match the respective installation. This protects the technology and extends the service life. In the smart home area, multi-channel 10-16 ampere actuators for resistive loads are used most frequently. Can I connect different phases to the KNX switching actuator?Yes, you can connect different phases to the switching actuator, provided each channel is available separately on the device. In the case of devices with separate potential-free switching contacts, the different phases can be switched next to one another. Different residual current circuit breakers per channel are also possible. In contrast to this, however, operation with different voltages within an actuator is by no means permissible. How do I define the individual switching parameters on the switching actuator? At this point, many interested parties become pensive and begin to doubt whether they can 'program' a switching actuator themselves. It's actually not that difficult. The Engineering Tool Software (ETS) required for this is not really used for programming, but only the group addresses and parameters are assigned to the device. What does ETS mean for KNX?The engineering tool software is a necessary tool for configuring the functions when commissioning KNX devices. The software is only used for parameterization and can also be understood by laypersons with an interest in the logic of the KNX.Programming knowledge is not required and you do not need to know any programming language. If you are interested in the rather simple logical connections of the KNX bus, you are quite capable of creating a project. Of course, more complex concepts require a certain amount of experience. We always recommend having the basic project created by an experienced system integrator. This gives you the option of later changing important parameters yourself very easily if this becomes necessary due to changes in everyday life. What is the difference between binary input and binary output?Switch actuators are also referred to as binary outputs. This designation is not wrong, because these are components that actually switch the connected electrical equipment like a classic light switch - often centrally in the control cabinet. Binary inputs, on the other hand, do not switch the current, but only pass on the signals from conventional operating devices to the KNX system for further processing in a logic module or other KNX participants.  Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Installation bus systems > Switch actuator for bus system you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:Adapter plugBasic moduleBlind controlCommand devicesDrive controlElectric infrared heatingEnergy measurementGarage doorHand controlLatching switchOutdoor areaRadio controlRadio systemRelay switchResponse delayShutter outputShutter switchSocket coverSplash proofStaircaseSun protectionSwitch socketSwitching actuator moduleSwitching deviceVentilation controlWipe-offWipe-onWireless switching outputfrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Switch actuator:ABBBerkerBusch JaegerEatonEberleEIBMARKTElsnerElsoEltakoESYLUXFinderfrogblue AGGiraHagerIssendorffJungLegrand SEKOLingg & JankeMDTMean WellMertenPehaRutenbeckSchneider ElectricSiemensThebenVaillantWaremaWielandZumtobel
Hifi amplifier - HiFi amplifiers process an audio signal from an external source (CD player, television or radio), so that all sounds can be played with increased power through the speakers connected. Whereas a mono amplifier only amplifies the signal of one channel, a stereo amplifier consists of a two-channel pre amp and power amp for the left and right channel. In HiFi amplifiers the built-in components are essential for the performance. Thus, depending on the price of the hi-fi amplifier and the desired application, digital or analog power supply units, are used. eibabo offers HiFi amplifiers from different manufacturers such as Huber + sons or Jung. The devices offered are available in different amplifier types: preamplifiers, power amplifiers, multi-channel amplifiers and KNX multi-room amplifiers for the EIB / KNX bus. The hi-fi amplifiers we offer are characterized by a solid architecture with high-quality, shielded and constant power transformers. The devices have precise circuits for minimum noise and maximum overmodulation resistance. Key performance figures that you should look for when buying hi-fi amplifiers are: power consumption, speaker load capacity, impedance and power of the amplifier. A multitude of possible connections is also important, as is the number of stereo inputs (NF signals) and loudspeaker outputs (NF signals) and the connection type (NF).Catalogue content:In this eibabo® catalogue Consumer electronics > HiFi Amplifier you will find items from the following product groups:Item overview:AmplifierAmplifiersAudio electronicsHiFi AmplifierIntegrated amplifierMixing amplifierPreampStanding devicefrom the following manufacturers:Manufacturer overview catalogue Hifi amplifier:Huber + Söhne WHDHuber + S?hne WHDJungKindermannLegrand BticinoUltraMedia
