You should therefore not connect high-power devices such as refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, space heaters, air conditioners or ovens to a power strip. Small consumers such as lamps, computers, entertainment devices or printers do not pose a problem.

TIP:

The connected loads should not exceed a combined output of around 2300W at 10A or 3600W at 16A measured at 230V mains voltage.

Please make sure that you do not connect multiple socket strips in a row. Otherwise the resistance (impedance) could become too large due to the concatenation.

Can socket strips also be sources of danger?

As long as you are using a power strip properly, there is nothing to worry about. Pay attention to the performance of the connected devices and to a safe laying of the cable. Never lay a line under a carpet that many people walk over every day. Over time, this can cause the wires in the line to break, heat up, and cause sparks. Check the cable and the power plug of the strip regularly. If you find any damage, replace the power strip.

What are master/slave power strips?

Power can be saved with master/slave socket strips. An integrated electronic circuit detects whether power is flowing through the master socket. If power is present at the master socket, the slave sockets are activated. If no more current flows through the master socket, the slave sockets switch off. The typical application is a computer and its connected peripheral devices. If the computer is switched on via the master socket, monitors, scanners and printers also start. Turning off the computer also disables all other devices, avoiding going into sleep mode.

What do I use 19 inch power strips for?

19 inches is a standard installation size for server cabinets. If you want to install many devices in your server cabinet, you need an adequate power supply.
