Earthed plug
The safety plug, short shock-proof or Euro plug, is a system of plugs and sockets. The shock-proof plug is part of a plug device which can be connected and disconnected while voltage is present. The first-to-make-last-to-break contact of the protective conductor is a precondition for an electrical connection or separation of the plug device under load. In addition to 2KT shock-proof plugs you will find thermoset plugs, surface plugs, flat cable plugs and flat plugs, rubber plugs and PVC shock-proof plugs as well as installation plugs, angled plugs and wall plugs for shock-proof systems. Internationally, this system is also known as plug type 'F' or CEE 7/4. In addition to shock-proof plugs for the shock-proof system we also list safety plugs of the Swiss plug system and the British plug system. Please note that shock-proof plug systems are not always compatible with other safety plug systems. However, the shock-proof plug system is at least partially compatible with the French system 'E' (CEE 7/7). All shock-proof plug types have the same technical principle of grounding: the grounding connection diverts dangerous voltages as soon as the electrical circuit is closed by the two other poles. The design with first-to-make-last-to-break protection contact ensures that no dangerous voltage is present at accessible parts of appliances. In the shock-proof plug system, the protective contacts consist of contact surfaces on the plug side and the corresponding contact springs in the shock-proof socket. The shock-proof system is designed for supply voltages from 220 V to 240 V (rated voltage: 230 V at 50 Hz). The plugs, outlets and extension lines in the shock-proof contact system are usually designed for 16 A continuous current, which corresponds to a power of 3,680 W. The shock-proof plug has two round contact pins for phase and neutral conductor. The protective contact pole (contact surface on plug and the contact springs on socket) diverts residual currents, as soon as the electrical circuit is closed by the other two poles. Eibabo offers shock-proof plugs of all approved and well-known manufacturers including, among others: ABL Sursum, Berker, Bachmann, Merten, Mennekes, Gira, Busch-Jaeger and Apsa.
