Dimmers are thyristors or triactors to control the brightness of incandescent lamps, lamps or transformers for low-voltage halogen incandescent lamps. There are basically two basic dimmer models: The very common rotary dimmer and the tactile or touch dimmer. These two models are provided by almost every switch manufacturer. With rotary dimmers brightness is controlled by turning. With a remote touch dimmer, a short touch switches the dimmer on and off, a longer touch pulse causes a change in brightness. There is also the possibility to activate the dimmer by control voltage. When selecting a suitable dimmer, you should take into consideration that the dimmer is selected according to the appropriate load type (type of lamp, type of power supply and voltage).
